This week, three Egyptian artists; Nada Sabet, Salam Yousry and Ahmed Abdel Naiem will travel to Copenhagen to take part in a one-week research trip, in relation to artistic education for children.
Drawing inspiration from the “Children’s Culture Pilots” project in Copenhagen, in which children are given full ownership over the creative decision making process, the 3 artists will exchange knowledge about that model with their counterparts in Denmark.
Over 4 days during the holiday camp, the artists will conduct workshops, initiated by a group of 15 children from local communities in Copenhagen. It will involve: puppets, music, collective writing, illustration, storytelling and theatre.
Together, they will be building a mini-city using recycled material, and creating puppets that would play the main characters. Different stories and songs will be performed about this mini-city, and presented at the end of the holiday camp. The visit will help develop methods for working with children’s ownership in the creative decision-making process.
This project is supported by the Danish-Egyptian Dialogue Institute (DEDI). The workshops will take place at the Holiday Camp in Sundby Idrætspark. Copenhagen from Tuesday the 3rd July to Friday, the 6th of July.
