Governance

DEDI's governance program supports the promotion of inclusive and democratic societies in the Arab World and in Europe and in particular in Egypt and in Denmark. The program objectives fall in two main categories: On the one hand, it supports and analyses initiatives promoting good governance and the strengthening of legitimate and transparent public institutions. On the other hand, it supports and analyses initiatives promoting fundamental rights of the citizens in these societies ranging from freedoms of expression and conscience to freedom of assembly.

The projects and initiatives of the program include partners among state actors, civil society actors, and groups of citizens. Project examples include exchange of artists from Denmark and Egypt, a yearly Summer School introducing young Arabs to the Danish experiences with democracy and inclusion as well as projects aiming at improving transparency and good governance in the public sector in Egypt.
