From the 7th to 15th of March, the 9th edition of the annual Hakawy International Arts festival for Children takes place at the Cairo Opera house. The festival brings international and local performances, workshops, talks and activities designed for children and whole families.
This year, DEDI is supporting the festival by bringing from Denmark SnowEyes – a dance production that explores the world from a child’s perspective. Imagine, that you wake up one morning and find a still untouched landscape covered in snow — new, clean, quiet, and everything looks slightly different. 0-4 year old children still absorb the world in an unbiased way, and in this performance we share the child’s wondering, when it experiences snow for the first time.
Furthermore, it is possible to experience “Dil-Hekaya”, a show where Egyptian Samia Jaheen is telling a bundle of local and international fairy tales and folk stories, including some Egyptianized fairy tales by the popular and world famous Danish writer, H.C. Andersen.
